Pokémon the Movie: Kyurem vs. the Sword of Justice is an animated film from Japan. It came out in 2012. The movie was made by OLM, Inc. and shown by Toho. Kunihiko Yuyama directed it, and Hideki Sonoda wrote the story. This film is the 15th movie in the Pokémon series. The Pokémon world was created by Satoshi Tajiri, Junichi Masuda, and Ken Sugimori.

The story is about a Pokémon named Keldeo. Keldeo is training to join a special group. This group is called the Swords of Justice. They are protector Pokémon. Keldeo gets scared during a battle with a strong Dragon-type Pokémon named Kyurem. Keldeo runs away. Kyurem then traps the other Swords of Justice in ice. It also chases after Keldeo. The Pokémon trainers Ash Ketchum, Iris, and Cilan decide to help Keldeo. They want to save its friends.

This movie also celebrated a big event. It was the 90th anniversary of Shogakukan. This is a Japanese company that publishes many Pokémon books and comics. The film first came out in Japan on July 14, 2012.

What's the Story About?

Virizion, Terrakion, and Cobalion are part of a group. They are called the Swords of Justice. These special Pokémon travel the world. They help people and other Pokémon who are in trouble. Keldeo is training hard to become a member of this brave group.

Keldeo's last test is a big battle. It must fight Kyurem. Kyurem is a very strong Dragon-type Pokémon. It can use the powers of Reshiram and Zekrom. Kyurem lives in an old, empty mine. But the Swords of Justice think Keldeo is not ready yet.

Keldeo secretly goes to the mine. It wants to battle Kyurem. Keldeo lies and says it is already a Sword of Justice. Kyurem breaks Keldeo's horn. This makes Keldeo very scared. The other Swords of Justice arrive to stop the fight. Kyurem gets angry. It freezes the Swords of Justice in ice. Keldeo runs away in a panic. Kyurem chases Keldeo. It says their battle is not over.

The Pokémon trainers Ash Ketchum, Iris, and Cilan find Keldeo. It is hurt and on top of their train. They are heading to Roshan City. Kyurem arrives with its helpers, the Cryogonal. It still wants to fight. But Kyurem leaves when the train goes into a tunnel. Keldeo is taken to a Pokémon Center in Roshan City to get better.

Outside, Ash, Iris, and Cilan agree to help Keldeo. They plan to free the Swords of Justice. Iris takes a zeppelin from the city's museum. Cilan uses an old mine cart. His Stunfisk powers it. They use these to make Kyurem and the Cryogonal follow them. Ash and Keldeo sneak away on foot. They go to save the trapped Swords of Justice.

Kyurem returns to the mine. It wants to finish the battle. Ash goes to the mine with his Pikachu, Pignite, and Boldore. They want to free the Swords of Justice. Kyurem is mad that they are in its home. It tries to attack them. But Keldeo saves them. Keldeo finds its courage to fight.

Kyurem then tells Keldeo something. It knew Keldeo had lied about being a Sword of Justice. But it still accepted the challenge. Kyurem wants to finish their battle. Keldeo changes into its special Resolute Form. The battle makes the mine start to fall apart. This breaks the ice holding the Swords of Justice.

Kyurem traps Keldeo in ice. Keldeo breaks free. It learns a new move called Secret Sword. A glowing sword comes from its horn. Kyurem and Keldeo shoot blasts at each other. Kyurem's blast accidentally goes towards Ash and his friends. Keldeo uses Secret Sword to cut the blast. It saves its friends but gets hurt. Keldeo gives up to Kyurem. The battle finally ends.

The Swords of Justice praise Keldeo. They say it has learned the true power of the sword. This officially makes Keldeo the fourth member of their team. The group leaves the mine as it collapses. Kyurem freezes the falling mine. This stops more damage from happening.

Music and Songs

Shinji Miyazaki created the music for this movie. He also composed music for other Pokémon films and the TV show.

The main song for the movie is called "Memories". It is sung by Rola. She is a model and singer. The movie's director, Kunihiko Yuyama, loved the song. He thought it was perfect for the film. Rola also voiced a character in the movie named Malin. The song was released on July 11, 2012. The English ending song is "It's All Inside of You". John Loeffler and David Wolfert wrote it. Jesse Turner performs it.

• Kyurem (キュレム, Kyuremu): This Pokémon is known as the Boundary Pokémon. It is a powerful dragon. It was born with Reshiram and Zekrom. Many think it is the strongest of the three. Kyurem can use the powers of both Reshiram and Zekrom. This lets it change into Black Kyurem and White Kyurem forms. Kyurem is very determined to finish the battle that Keldeo started.
• Keldeo (ケルディオ, Kerudio): The Colt Pokémon. Keldeo is also the fourth member of the Swords of Justice. It is very good at using its hidden powers. Unlike the other Swords of Justice, Keldeo can change into its Resolute Form. Keldeo challenges Kyurem to a battle. But when Kyurem is too strong, Keldeo gets scared and runs away. Kyurem then chases Keldeo, wanting to finish their fight.
• Cobalion (コバルオン, Kobaruon): The Iron Will Pokémon. Cobalion is the leader of the Swords of Justice. It is calm and responsible. It works to protect Keldeo from Kyurem.
• Terrakion (テラキオン, Terakion): The Cavern Pokémon. Terrakion is one of the Swords of Justice. It can be a bit hotheaded. But it is very loyal to Cobalion.
• Virizion (ビリジオン, Birijion): The Grassland Pokémon. Virizion is also a member of the Swords of Justice. It is the most sensible and logical of the group.
• Malin (マリン, Marin): A young girl who sells Darumaka lunch boxes. She works at Windy Station with her partner Vanillite. Malin's voice in the Japanese movie is done by Rola, who sings the theme song.

Players who bought a ticket for the movie early got a special gift. They received the Pokémon Keldeo in their video games. This included Pokémon Black, White, Black 2, or White 2.
