Anne Solway Hegerty (born 14 July 1958) is a famous English quizzer and TV star. Many people know her as "The Governess" from the popular ITV game show The Chase, where she has been a "chaser" since 2010. She also appeared on the reality show I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in 2018.

Early Life and Early Career
Anne Solway Hegerty was born in Westminster, London, on 14 July 1958. She went to the University of Edinburgh to study journalism.
In the 1980s, Anne started her career as a reporter. She wrote for the South Wales Argus newspaper in Newport. Later, she moved to Manchester.
She also worked as a ghostwriter, which means she wrote books for other people. She wrote two books for American children's author Richard Scarry. Anne said these books "were a bit rubbish and nobody bought them."
Becoming a Quiz Star
Anne Hegerty is one of the well-known "chasers" on the ITV game show The Chase. Her fellow chasers include Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan, and Darragh Ennis.
She is also a chaser on the Australian version of the show. She appears there with another British chaser, Mark Labbett.
Other Quiz Shows and Achievements
Anne has been on many other quiz shows too. These include Mastermind, Fifteen to One, and Brain of Britain.
In 2013, she won the "Brain of Bolton" quiz for the second time. She also plays in the Online Quiz League.
In 2010, Anne helped a contestant on Who Wants to be A Millionaire. She was the "Phone A Friend" for Lisa Harman, who won £75,000. Anne correctly answered a question about the author of the Twilight books, Stephenie Meyer.
In 2016, she was ranked 55th in the World Quizzing Championships. She was also the second-highest ranked woman. In 2018, she came in 75th place, and in 2019, she was 122nd.

From 2018 to 2021, Anne Hegerty hosted Britain's Brightest Family on ITV.
In November 2018, Anne took part in I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!. She finished in seventh place on the show.
Outside of TV, Anne has also appeared in pantomimes. These are fun, musical stage shows often performed around Christmas.

In 2018, she joined other celebrities to record a Christmas song called "Rock With Rudolph". This song helped raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital, a hospital for children.
In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Anne joined "The Celebs" again. This time, they recorded "Merry Christmas Everyone" to help the Alzheimer's Society and Action for Children.
In 2021, Anne was part of a group of celebrities who covered the Beatles song "Let It Be". This song helped raise money for Mind, a mental health charity.
In 2022, Anne and other celebrities recorded Michael Jackson's "Thriller". This was to celebrate the song's 40th anniversary and raise more money for Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Personal Life
Anne Hegerty lives in Manchester. She is a Catholic.
She was diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorder in 2003, when she was 45 years old.
In 2022, Anne appeared on the ITV show DNA Journey. On the show, she found out that she has Irish and Scottish family roots. It was also revealed that she is a descendant of Robert the Bruce, a famous Scottish king. She is also a distant relative of Elizabeth II, the former Queen of the United Kingdom.
