Anne Hegerty is a well-known British TV star and a super smart quizzer! She was born on July 14, 1958. Many people know her as "The Governess" from the popular ITV game show The Chase, where she has been a "chaser" since 2010. Early Life and First Jobs
Anne Solway Hegerty was born in London, England. She went to the University of Edinburgh to study journalism. In the 1980s, she started her career as a reporter. She wrote for a newspaper called the South Wales Argus. Later, she moved to Manchester. Anne also worked as a ghostwriter, which means she wrote books for other people. She even wrote two books for a children's author named Richard Scarry.
Becoming a TV Quiz Star
Anne Hegerty is famous for being one of the "chasers" on The Chase. On the show, she tries to stop contestants from winning money by answering quiz questions. She is known as "The Governess" because of her strict and smart personality on the show.

Singing for Good Causes

Anne Hegerty lives in Manchester, England. She is a Catholic. In 2003, when she was 45 years old, she was diagnosed with autism. This means her brain works differently, which can affect how she communicates and interacts with the world.
In 2022, Anne appeared on an ITV show called DNA Journey. On the show, she found out that she has Irish and Scottish family roots. She also learned that she is a descendant of Robert the Bruce, a famous Scottish king, and a distant relative of Elizabeth II, the former Queen of the United Kingdom!
