Anni Domingo has had a long career in theatre, television, radio, and film. She has appeared in many TV shows and movies. These include Outland (1981) and Wondrous Oblivion (2003).

More recently, in 2019, she was in several episodes of BBC One's EastEnders. She also performed on stage in a play called Three Sisters at the National Theatre.

The full novel was published by Jacaranda Books in 2021.

Breaking the Maafa Chain is a big historical novel. It is based on the true story of Sarah Forbes Bonetta, who was an abolitionist and the goddaughter of Queen Victoria.

In 2019, Anni was chosen for a writing retreat called Hedgebrook. She also joined the "Escalator" program by the National Centre for Writing. These opportunities helped her start working on her second novel, Ominira.

Anni was awarded a Harold Moody Postgraduate Research Studentship in 2021. This allowed her to start a PhD at King's College London. Her research looks at how black Victorians were shown in literature between 1850 and 1880.
