Ansonville was first settled in 1844. This means people started building homes and living there around that time.
The Carolina Female College
In 1850, an important school called the Carolina Female College was created in Ansonville. The North Carolina Legislature helped to establish it. This college was special because it was run by and for young women from local families.
The college taught many subjects to help young women get a good education. However, the school closed down because of the American Civil War. It stopped operating either in 1862 or 1867, as the war made it impossible to continue.
