Water flows into Anstruther Lake from Anstruther Creek and Camp Creek. The lake's water then flows out through Anstruther Creek. This creek connects to a system of rivers including the Mississaugua, Otonabee, and Trent rivers. Eventually, all this water makes its way to Lake Ontario.

Anstruther Lake is a popular spot for people to enjoy nature. There are about 230 cottages built around the lake. Recently, 25 new townhouses were also built near The Landing marina.
