Antofagasta de la Sierra is a small village located high up in the mountains of Catamarca Province, Argentina. It is the main town of the Antofagasta de la Sierra Department.
This special place is known for its amazing natural beauty, including volcanoes and unique landscapes. Most of the people living here are descendants of the Diaguita and Atacameño groups, who have lived in this region for a very long time.
What People Do There
The people living in Antofagasta de la Sierra mostly work in farming. They raise animals like sheep and llamas. They also grow vegetables to feed their families and sell.
Tourism is also very important for the village's economy. Many visitors come to see the incredible mountains, volcanoes, and huge calderas (which are like giant bowls formed after a volcano erupts).
