Apartaderos sits very high up, about 3,505 metres (11,499 ft) (11,499 feet) above sea level. This makes it the highest town in Venezuela. It is surrounded by a unique type of mountain grassland called "páramo."

Getting There
You can reach Apartaderos from Mérida city and Valera. You travel on the Transandean Highway. This highway reaches its highest point at 4,000 metres (13,000 ft) (about 13,123 feet) at a spot called El Collado del Cóndor. Locals also know this spot as Pico El Águila. It's just a few minutes from the town.
