Apricot is a small place in Benton County, Washington, United States. It's not a city or town with its own government. Instead, it's an "unincorporated community." This means it's a group of homes and businesses that are part of the larger county. You can find Apricot between two other towns, Prosser and Grandview.
History of Apricot
Apricot was started in 1916. It was likely named "Apricot" because of the good land there for growing apricots. A company called the Yakima Irrigating and Improvement Company offered this land for sale.
In the past, Apricot was an important stop for trains. It served as a "railroad siding" for the Northern Pacific Railroad. A railroad siding is like a side track where trains can wait or be loaded and unloaded. This was useful for moving goods and people.
