Ara Gevorgyan (Armenian: Արա Գևորգյան, born April 19, 1960) is a famous Armenian musician, composer, and music producer. In 2004, he was given the special title of Honorary Artist of Armenia by the country's leader, Robert Kocharyan, who was the President at the time. This award showed how much his work was valued in Armenia.

About Ara Gevorgyan
Ara Gevorgyan is the son of a well-known Armenian folk singer named Valya Samvelyan. He grew up in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia. He went to School #31 in Yerevan and also studied music at the A. Tigranyan Musical School at the same time. He also spent two years studying at Yerevan #8 college, which focuses on Fine Arts.
His Musical Journey
From 1983 to 1987, Ara Gevorgyan studied at the Armenian State Pedagogical University. He focused on woodwind instruments and pop music. After finishing his studies, he taught conducting at the same university for two years, from 1987 to 1989. Later, he worked at Armenian Television.
In 1983, Ara Gevorgyan started his own Armenian pop-rock band called "Rally." His band even took part in the "Song-85" festival, which was a big event for music.
Special Performances and Collaborations
Ara Gevorgyan has performed at many important events. One notable performance was at the Opening Ceremony of the Cultural Year of Armenia in Russia. This event took place at the Moscow Kremlin Music Hall. Both the President of Armenia, Robert Kocharyan, and the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, were there. The famous French-Armenian singer Charles Aznavour also attended.
Ara Gevorgyan has worked with many talented musicians from around the world. Some of these include Jivan Gasparyan, Ian Gillan, Demis Roussos, Pedro Eustache, and Daniel Decker. His most popular songs include "Adana," "Artsakh," "Ov Hayots Ashkharh," and "Ovkyanosits ayn koghm." He also composed music for a ballet called "Golden Cage," which was performed by the Russian ballerina Anastasia Volochkova. This ballet was dedicated to the famous Bolshoi Theater.
Family Life and Awards
Ara Gevorgyan is married and has a daughter and a son. Besides being named an Honorary Artist of Armenia, he has received other awards. He was given the "Mikhail Lomonosov" Russian medal and a gold medal from the Ministry of Culture of Armenia. These awards recognize his important contributions to music and culture.
