Arad (Persian: ارد) is a city in Iran. It is the main city of the Arad District in Gerash County, which is part of Fars Province. Arad is also the administrative center for the Arad Rural District.
The area around Arad has many farms and open, dry land. Two large mountains run next to the city. This can make it a bit tricky to travel to Arad. There is one paved highway that connects Arad to other cities. This road goes both east and west. It links Arad to big cities like Jahrom, Qom, Shiraz, and Bandar Abbas.

Most people in Arad follow the Islamic Shia faith. About 97% of the population is Shia. A small number, about 1%, are Islamic Sunni. There are also a few Turks and people from Afghanistan. These groups each make up about 1% of the population.
How Many People Live Here?
The number of people living in Arad has changed over the years. In 2006, Arad was a village. It had 5,264 people living in 1,181 homes.
By 2011, the population grew to 5,574 people in 1,623 homes. At this time, Arad was still a village. It was part of the new Gerash County.
The most recent count was in 2016. The village of Arad had 5,094 people living in 1,502 homes. After this count, Arad officially became a city.
