Arcadia, Washington is a small place in Mason County, Washington. It is called an unincorporated community. This means it does not have its own local government.
Arcadia is located in the southwestern part of Puget Sound. It sits on a piece of land between two water bodies. These are Hammersley Inlet to the north and Totten Inlet to the south. You can find Arcadia between the cities of Olympia, Washington and Shelton, Washington.
History of Arcadia
In the past, Arcadia was a place where people built boats. Specifically, two steamboats were built here. Steamboats were large boats powered by steam. They were very important for travel and moving goods long ago.
One steamboat was named the Arcadia. It was built in 1889 and weighed 40 tons. The other steamboat was called the Biz. It was built earlier, in 1881. The Biz was about 70 feet (21 meters) long and weighed 80 gross tons.
