History of Arcadia
Arcadia was started in 1855 on a hill that looked over the Trempealeau River Valley. Later, when the Green Bay and Western Railroad built train tracks in the valley, the city grew along these tracks.
In 1858, David Massuere began building a flour mill, which was finished in 1860. In 1900, a Grist Mill was built for Michael Stelmach and John Kamla. A school building, Korpal Valley School, was moved to the Mill in 1903. The school building later collapsed, but the Mill is still standing today.
In the early 2000s, Arcadia grew a lot because many Hispanic and Latino immigrants moved there. By 2021, the city was home to about twenty small businesses owned by Latino families. This shows how new people have helped Arcadia grow and become a diverse place.
