Archduke Mountain is a tall mountain in British Columbia, Canada. It stands about 3,135 meters (10,285 feet) high. It's part of the Purcell Mountains.

You can find it about 43 kilometers (27 miles) north of a town called Kaslo. It's also near the northern edge of the Purcell Wilderness Conservancy Provincial Park and Protected Area. Its closest neighbor is Emperor Peak, just 1 kilometer (0.62 miles) to the west. Together, Archduke Mountain and Emperor Peak form a large mountain mass called the Archduke-Emperor massif.

The mountain got its name on June 20, 1972. This name was approved by the Geographical Names Board of Canada. A climber named Dr. Curt Wagner suggested the name. He named it after Beethoven's famous music piece, the Archduke Trio. This music was dedicated to Archduke Rudolf of Austria.

Mountain Weather

Archduke Mountain is in a subarctic climate zone. This means it has very cold and snowy winters. The summers are usually mild. Temperatures can drop below −20 °C (or −4 °F). With the wind chill, it can feel even colder, sometimes below −30 °C (or −22 °F).

Water from melting snow and glaciers flows down the mountain. This water eventually drains into the Duncan River through smaller streams.
