The Arctic rock-cress (Arabidopsis arenicola) is a cool plant. It grows naturally in the northeastern part of North America. This plant is special because it can live in sandy or rocky places. You might find it near beaches or along stream banks. It usually grows at elevations below 1,500 metres (4,900 ft).

The Arctic rock-cress is a type of plant that comes back every year. This means it's a perennial herb. It can grow up to 30 centimetres (12 in) tall. Most of the time, it doesn't have many hairs on its stems or leaves.
What It Looks Like
The leaves at the bottom of the plant can be up to 6 centimetres (2.4 in) long. The leaves on the stem are smaller, up to 2.5 millimetres (0.098 in) long.
When it blooms, the Arctic rock-cress has pretty white flowers. Each flower can be up to 10 millimetres (0.39 in) wide. After the flowers, the plant grows fruits. These fruits are straight and smooth. They are shaped like cylinders or are slightly flat. They can grow up to 3 centimetres (1.2 in) long.
Where It Grows
This plant is found in many northern places. It lives in Greenland and several parts of Canada. You can find it in Labrador, Nunavut, and the Northwest Territories. It also grows in Québec, Ontario, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan.
