Getting to Ardeth Lake is an adventure! You can usually reach it by hiking from special starting points called trailheads. These trailheads are found in the Sawtooth Valley. You can get to the Sawtooth Valley from State Highway 75. Another way is from the Grandjean trailhead, which is off of State Highway 21.

What Makes Ardeth Lake Special?

Ardeth Lake sits very high up, at an elevation of 8,228 feet (2,508 m) above sea level. Because it's so high, the lake often stays frozen until early summer! Imagine ice on the lake even when it's warm elsewhere.

At the southern end of the lake, you'll see a tall mountain called Glens Peak. This peak stands at an impressive 10,053 feet (3,064 m) in elevation.
