Arimo is a city in the Marsh Valley in central Bannock County, Idaho, United States, that is part of the 'Pocatello Metropolitan Statistical Area'. The population was 355 at the 2010 census.

Geography

Arimo is located at 42°33′34″N 112°10′17″W / 42.55944°N 112.17139°W / 42.55944; -112.17139 (42.559460, -112.171399).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.44 square miles (1.14 km2), all of it land.

2010 census

As of the census of 2010, there were 355 people, 108 households, and 89 families living in the city. The population density was 806.8 inhabitants per square mile (311.5/km2). There were 121 housing units at an average density of 275.0 per square mile (106.2/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 91.3% White, 0.3% Asian, 1.7% Pacific Islander, 2.0% from other races, and 4.8% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3.1% of the population.

There were 108 households, of which 44.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 74.1% were married couples living together, 5.6% had a female householder with no husband present, 2.8% had a male householder with no wife present, and 17.6% were non-families. 13.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 7.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.29 and the average family size was 3.67.

The median age in the city was 28.9 years. 35.8% of residents were under the age of 18; 10.4% were between the ages of 18 and 24; 17.5% were from 25 to 44; 25.3% were from 45 to 64; and 11% were 65 years of age or older. The gender makeup of the city was 50.1% male and 49.9% female.

Education

Downey is part of the March Valley School Joint District#21 and is served by three schools:

  • Downey Elementary School, located in Downey
  • Marsh Valley Middle School, located just north of Arimo
  • Marsh Valley High School, located just north of Arimo

Transportation

Downey is served by one Interstate Highway and one U.S. Highway:

  • I-15, which passes along the west side of the city (via Exit 40, just northwest of the city)
  • US 91, which passes along the west side of the city (concurrent with I‑15)
