Aritatsu Ogi (小城 得達, Ogi Aritatsu, born December 10, 1942) is a famous former Japanese football player. He was a talented Midfielder who played for the Japanese national team.

A Football Star: Aritatsu Ogi
Aritatsu Ogi was born in Hiroshima, Japan, on December 10, 1942. He became one of Japan's most important football players. He was known for his skills as a midfielder.
Playing for Club Teams
After finishing his studies at Chuo University, Ogi joined his hometown club, Toyo Industries, in 1965. This team was very successful during his time there. They won the Japan Soccer League championship five times! These wins happened in 1965, 1966, 1967, 1968, and 1970.
Aritatsu Ogi was a key player in these victories. In 1966, he was the top scorer in the league. He was also chosen for the "Best Eleven" team for seven years in a row, from 1966 to 1972. This means he was considered one of the best players in the league for many years. He also won the Japanese Footballer of the Year award twice, in 1965 and 1970. He played 163 games for Toyo Industries and scored 57 goals before he retired in 1976.
Representing His Country: Japan National Team
Aritatsu Ogi also played for the Japanese national team. He made his first appearance for Japan on August 8, 1963, when he was still a university student. This game was against Malaysia.
He was chosen to play for Japan in two Summer Olympics. He played in the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo and the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City. He played in every match at both Olympics. In the 1964 Olympics, he scored the winning goal against Argentina in their first game.
The 1968 Mexico City Olympics were very special. Japan's team won the Bronze Medal in football! This was a huge achievement for Japanese football. In 2018, this amazing team was honored and selected for the Japan Football Hall of Fame. Ogi also played in the Asian Games in 1966, 1970, and 1974. Overall, he played 62 games for Japan and scored 11 goals before he stopped playing for the national team in 1976.
After Playing: Coaching and Honors
After he stopped playing football, Aritatsu Ogi became a coach. He managed his former club, Toyo Industries, from 1977 to 1980.
In 2006, Aritatsu Ogi was recognized for his amazing career and was selected for the Japan Football Hall of Fame. This honor celebrates the greatest people in Japanese football history. In 2017, he also received the Order of the Rising Sun, a special award from the Japanese government.
