Starting Out in Broadcasting

Arlo White began his career in broadcasting when he was 27 years old. He gained early experience by covering local football games for BBC Radio Derby. He also worked in broadcasting while traveling in Australia, which helped him learn more about the job.

Working at BBC Radio

In 2001, Arlo White joined the BBC. He presented a show called "Sport on Five" for BBC Radio 5 Live. From 2002 to 2005, he was also the sports reporter for "Five Live Breakfast," sharing the latest sports news every morning.

He even commentated on a big American football game, Super Bowl XLII, for Radio 5 Live in February 2008.

Commentating on Cricket

Arlo White's Personal Life

Arlo White was named after the American folk singer Arlo Guthrie. He has twin daughters, who were born in 2007.

He was born in Leicester and has always been a big fan of his local football club, Leicester City. He was even commentating when Leicester City famously won the Premier League title in the 2015–16 season. Arlo White also supports American sports teams, including the NFL's Chicago Bears and MLB's Chicago Cubs. He first visited Chicago when he was 13 years old in 1986. He has said that he loves American culture.
