Starting Out in Broadcasting
Arlo White began his career in broadcasting when he was 27 years old. He gained early experience by covering local football games for BBC Radio Derby. He also worked in broadcasting while traveling in Australia, which helped him learn more about the job.
Working at BBC Radio
In 2001, Arlo White joined the BBC. He presented a show called "Sport on Five" for BBC Radio 5 Live. From 2002 to 2005, he was also the sports reporter for "Five Live Breakfast," sharing the latest sports news every morning.
He even commentated on a big American football game, Super Bowl XLII, for Radio 5 Live in February 2008.
Commentating on Cricket
Arlo White made his first appearance on Test Match Special (TMS), a famous cricket radio show, in 2005. He covered a Test match between Pakistan and England.

In March 2012, Arlo White became the play-by-play commentator for all MLS games and US National Team games shown on NBC and NBC Sports Network. He was also the lead football commentator for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, where he covered all the matches for the US women's national team.
In March 2020, Arlo White also started commentating for the Chicago Fire FC. He continued this role even after joining LIV Golf in 2022.
Voice of the Premier League
When NBC got the rights to show the Premier League in 2013, Arlo White moved from MLS broadcasts to become their main commentator for the Premier League. He was based in the United Kingdom for this role. He often worked with former football players like Lee Dixon or Graeme Le Saux as co-commentators.
He returned to MLS for some playoff games in 2013 but then focused completely on Premier League matches starting in 2014. Arlo White also sometimes filled in as a host for NBC's Premier League studio shows, like Match of the Day and Premier League Live.
Starting with the 2022–2023 season, another commentator named Peter Drury took over as NBC's main Premier League voice.
Other Exciting Work
Arlo White has even appeared as himself in the popular Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso. In the show, he commentates on the matches of the fictional football team, AFC Richmond. This role came after he appeared in some short promotional videos for NBC Sports that actually inspired the Ted Lasso series.

Arlo White's Personal Life
Arlo White was named after the American folk singer Arlo Guthrie. He has twin daughters, who were born in 2007.
He was born in Leicester and has always been a big fan of his local football club, Leicester City. He was even commentating when Leicester City famously won the Premier League title in the 2015–16 season. Arlo White also supports American sports teams, including the NFL's Chicago Bears and MLB's Chicago Cubs. He first visited Chicago when he was 13 years old in 1986. He has said that he loves American culture.
