Arnab Ranjan Goswami (born 7 March 1973) is a well-known Indian journalist and news anchor. He is currently the managing director and editor-in-chief of Republic Media Network. This is a news organization that focuses on news and current events in India.
Before starting Republic TV, Goswami was the editor-in-chief and a news anchor for Times Now and ET Now from 2006 to 2016. He also worked at NDTV and The Telegraph earlier in his career. While at Times Now, he hosted a popular live debate show called The Newshour. This show aired at 9 PM (Indian Standard Time) on weekdays and made him very famous. He also hosted a special show called Frankly Speaking with Arnab. In November 2016, Goswami left Times Now. His own news channel, Republic TV, began broadcasting in May 2017.

Early Life and Education
Family Background
Arnab Goswami was born in Guwahati, Assam, on 7 March 1973. His parents are Manoranjan Goswami and Suprabha Gain-Goswami. His father, Manoranjan Goswami, served in the Indian Army for nearly 30 years. After retiring, he became a writer and received an award from the Asam Sahitya Sabha. Arnab's mother, Suprabha Gain-Goswami, is also an author.
Goswami is married to Samyabrata Ray Goswami, who is also a journalist and helps run Republic TV. They have a son named Che Goswami.
School and College Years
Because his father was in the army, Goswami attended different schools across India. He finished his 10th grade at Mount St Mary's School in New Delhi. He completed his 12th grade at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Jabalpur.
Goswami earned a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Hindu College at Delhi University. In 1994, he completed his Master's degree in Social Anthropology from St. Antony's College at Oxford University in the UK. He was a special scholar there. In 2000, he was also a visiting fellow at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge University.
Career in Journalism
Starting Out: The Telegraph and NDTV
Arnab Goswami began his journalism career at The Telegraph in Kolkata. Less than a year later, he moved to Delhi and joined NDTV.
He worked at NDTV from 1996 to 2006. At NDTV, he anchored daily news programs, including News Tonight. His show Newsnight won him an award for the Best News Anchor of Asia in 2004.
Leading Times Now
In 2006, Goswami left NDTV to become the editor-in-chief of the new Times Now news channel.
His show The Newshour was very popular. It aired live at 9 PM and featured important people like Parvez Musharraf. He also hosted Frankly Speaking with Arnab, where he interviewed many famous personalities. These included former UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai, and former United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Goswami was the first TV anchor to interview Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he took office in 2014.
Goswami left Times Now on 1 November 2016. He explained that he wanted more freedom in how he reported the news. He hosted the final episode of The Newshour Debate a couple of weeks later.

Launching Republic TV
After leaving Times Now, Arnab Goswami launched his own news channel, Republic TV. The channel started on 6 May 2017 and was available for free. Goswami became both the managing director and the editor-in-chief. Many journalists who worked with him at Times Now also joined Republic TV.
In May 2019, Goswami bought more shares in Republic TV. This gave him almost full ownership of the company. Republic Media Network later stated that Goswami personally owns over 82 percent of Republic TV.

In 2002, Arnab Goswami wrote a book titled Combating Terrorism: The Legal Challenge.
Awards and Recognition
- 2003: Best Presenter or Anchor (Runner up) at the Asian Television Awards.
- 2008: Won the Ramnath Goenka Award for Excellence in Journalism for his work in TV.
- 2010: Named TV Personality of the Year by GQ India.
- 2010: Received the Assamese of the Year award from News Live.
- 2014: Named News Anchor of the Year at the IAA Leadership Awards.
- 2018: Received the Mediaperson of the Year Award at the IAA Leadership Awards.
- On 8 December 2019, he was chosen as the President of the News Broadcasting Federation. This is a new group of about 78 news channels.
