Arnold Shepard Greenberg (born September 2, 1932 – died October 26, 2012) was an American businessman. He is best known for helping to start Snapple. Snapple is a very popular brand of tea and juice drinks. He created Snapple in the 1970s with two friends, Leonard Marsh and Hyman Golden.
Arnold Greenberg's Early Life
Arnold Greenberg was born in 1932 in Brooklyn, New York. He grew up in a neighborhood called Brownsville. He went to Samuel J. Tilden High School.
His father owned a store in Manhattan that sold traditional foods. These foods included pickles, herring, and lox. By the 1950s, Arnold Greenberg was helping to run his father's store every day.
Starting Snapple
In the 1960s, Arnold Greenberg changed his father's store. He turned it into a health food store. This was because the neighborhood was changing.
In 1972, he teamed up with two friends. These friends were Leonard Marsh and Hyman Golden. Leonard Marsh was also his classmate from high school. Together, they started a new company called Unadulterated Food Products. This company later became famous as Snapple.
Arnold Greenberg became a top leader at Snapple. He was the vice president and chief operating officer. He stopped working after a big company called Quaker Oats bought Snapple in 1994.
Later Years and Passing
Arnold Greenberg passed away on October 26, 2012, in New York City. He was 80 years old. He had been sick with cancer for a long time.
He was survived by his second wife, Roberta Budoff. He also had two daughters from his first marriage, Susan Minster and Robin Nijankin. His brother, Herbert, also survived him. He had three stepchildren and fourteen grandchildren. His first wife, Marilyn Parmet, passed away in 1993. Their son, Michael Greenberg, also passed away before him. Arnold Greenberg lived in Delray Beach, Florida. He also had homes in Southampton, New York and Manhattan.
