History of Nérac Arrondissement
The Nérac area became an arrondissement when the Lot-et-Garonne department was first set up. This happened a long time ago, on February 17, 1800.
Later, in 1926, the Nérac arrondissement was actually removed. But it didn't stay gone for long! It was brought back and became an arrondissement again in 1942.

The Nérac arrondissement is located in the southwest part of the Lot-et-Garonne department. It covers an area of about 1,400 square kilometers (which is about 540 square miles).

The arrondissement is surrounded by other areas. To the north, it borders the Marmande arrondissement. To the east, it's next to the Agen arrondissement. South of Nérac, you'll find the Gers department. To the southwest is the Landes department, and to the northwest is the Gironde department.
