Geography of Prades Arrondissement
The Prades arrondissement is located in the southwest part of its department. It is the largest of the administrative areas in the Pyrénées-Orientales department. Its total area is about 1,845.1 square kilometers (about 712.4 square miles).
Even though it's the biggest in size, it's not the most populated. In 2014, about 43,176 people lived there. This means the population density was about 23.4 people per square kilometer.
The Prades arrondissement shares borders with several other areas:
- To the north, it borders the Aude department.
- To the east, it borders the Perpignan and Céret arrondissements.
- To the south, it borders Spain.
- To the southwest, it borders Andorra.
- To the northwest, it borders the Ariège department.
