Ashley Renaldo Nurse (born December 22, 1988) is a former cricketer from the West Indies. He was a talented all-rounder, meaning he was good at both batting and bowling. Ashley was known for his right-arm off-break bowling and right-handed batting. He played first-class, List A, and Twenty20 cricket for Barbados. A big highlight of his career was being part of the West Indies team that won the 2016 T20 World Cup.

Playing for the West Indies

Ashley Nurse started playing for the West Indies in international matches. His first game was a Twenty20 International (T20I) against Pakistan on April 21, 2011. In that match, he bowled four overs.

He later made his debut in One Day International (ODI) cricket. This happened during a special tri-series tournament in 2016–17. His first ODI match was against Sri Lanka. Ashley was known as an "economical bowler." This means he was very good at bowling without giving away too many runs to the other team.

Playing for Barbados

Ashley Nurse has also had a strong career playing for his home team, Barbados. He has played in many different types of cricket matches for them.

Awards and Recognition

In July 2017, Ashley received a special award. The West Indies Players' Association named him the Regional Limited-Overs Cricketer of the Year. This award recognized his excellent performance in shorter cricket games.

Professional Contracts

In October 2018, Cricket West Indies (CWI) gave Ashley a "white-ball" contract. This contract was for the 2018–19 season. It meant he was officially chosen to play in limited-overs cricket games.

World Cup Selection

Ashley was selected for a very important tournament in April 2019. He was named in the West Indies' squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup. This is one of the biggest cricket events in the world.

Recent Domestic Seasons

In October 2019, Ashley continued to play for Barbados. He was chosen for the 2019–20 Regional Super50 tournament. He was the top wicket-taker for Barbados in this competition. He got 19 wickets in nine matches, which is a great achievement for a bowler.

In July 2020, Ashley was also named in the Barbados Tridents squad. This team plays in the 2020 Caribbean Premier League, which is a popular Twenty20 tournament.
