Atlanta Soccer Club was a professional soccer team from Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States. The club started in 2007 as Atlanta FC. Later, it became the reserve team for the Atlanta Silverbacks in 2011. When the Silverbacks team stopped playing in 2016, this club used their name.

On January 4, 2019, the club announced it would change its name. It became Atlanta SC because it no longer had permission to use the Silverbacks name. The team's logo and colors were inspired by the peach, which is a symbol of Georgia. The club played under the name Atlanta SC for two seasons before it stopped playing in 2020.

Club History and Name Changes

Atlanta FC: The Beginning

The team began in 2007 as Atlanta FC. It grew out of a successful Under-23 (U23) team called Lawrenceville FC. This U23 team had a great run to the National Cup finals. Around the same time, the NPSL was looking for new teams.

Atlanta FC joined the NPSL's new Southeast Conference. In their first season, they won the NPSL Southeast Conference. They later lost in the playoffs to the Midwest Champions, St. Paul Twin Stars. In 2008, Ramiro Canovas was one of the league's top scorers. Luis Sandoval and Robert Munilla were also chosen for the 2008 NPSL All-Star team.

In 2009, the club played in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. They reached the first round by finishing second in a qualifying tournament. The team lost 2–0 to the Charleston Battery.

Atlanta Silverbacks Reserves: A New Partnership

On February 3, 2011, Atlanta FC partnered with the Atlanta Silverbacks team. The team changed its name to Atlanta Silverbacks Reserves. In their first season as the Reserves, goalkeeper Eric Ati joined the main Silverbacks team. Kingsley Morgan was named to the NPSL All-Star team. The team finished fourth in their NPSL South Region.

The team took a break during the 2013 NPSL season. They returned to play in 2014. That year, they finished second in the Southeast Conference of the NPSL South Region.

Atlanta Silverbacks FC: Keeping the Name Alive

The main Atlanta Silverbacks team stopped playing at the end of the 2015 season. This was because they couldn't find local owners. So, the reserve team got permission to use the Silverbacks name. They played for three seasons as Atlanta Silverbacks FC. After that, they lost the right to use the name and became Atlanta SC.

Atlanta SC: The Final Chapter

In 2019, Atlanta SC joined the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA). This was a professional league at the Division III level. They started playing in the 2020 fall season. The team did not make it to the playoffs.

Atlanta SC then withdrew before the start of the 2020 spring season. They had plans to return in the fall of 2021. However, the club officially stopped playing by January 2020.
