Attnang-Puchheim is a town in Austria. It's located in the Vöcklabruck area, between the cities of Vöcklabruck and Schwanenstadt. It also has a partner city called Puchheim in Bavaria, Germany.

Where is Attnang-Puchheim?
Attnang-Puchheim is in a region called Hausruckviertel. This area is part of Upper Austria, located in the northern Austrian Prealps. People sometimes call Attnang-Puchheim the "Door to Salzkammergut". This means it's a gateway to the beautiful Salzkammergut lake district.
A Look Back: History of Attnang-Puchheim
How the Town Started
Attnang was first settled by people from Bavaria in the late 700s. The town of Puchheim was first mentioned in records in 1135. Attnang appeared in records about a hundred years later, in 1242. In 1912, the community changed its name from Puchheim to Attnang-Puchheim. This was done to show that Attnang was growing and becoming a more important part of the town.
Attnang-Puchheim During World War II
During World War II, Attnang-Puchheim was bombed on April 21, 1945. This happened because of its railway yard, which was important for moving supplies. Bombers from the US 15th Air Force targeted the area. The bombing caused a lot of damage to the railway yard, the train station, and nearby buildings. Many homes were also damaged or destroyed. Allied forces took control of Attnang-Puchheim on May 5, 1945.
