History of Auberry

The Auberry post office first opened in 1884. After moving a few times, it settled in its current spot in 1906. The name "Auberry" comes from a person named Al Yarborough. It is spelled the way his name sounded when spoken.

Auberry was also a stop on the San Joaquin and Eastern Railroad. This railroad was built to help with a big construction project. It was used to build the Big Creek Hydroelectric Project, which creates electricity from water.
