Auburn's Music Journey
Starting Her Career
Auburn began singing when she was very young. However, she didn't plan to become a professional singer at first. In 2004, she started using Myspace.com to share her music with friends. Soon, she gained many fans online.
In late 2007, she released her first independent album, Same GiiRL. This album created a lot of buzz. It also caught the attention of J.R. Rotem, who owned the record label Beluga Heights. The album included the song "Ewww Ewww," which featured Chellii-B. This song became quite popular, reaching number six on the underground hip-hop chart at DJBooth.net.
Becoming a Mainstream Artist
Because of her first album, Auburn got noticed by J.R. Rotem. In early 2008, she signed with Beluga Heights. This was a big step, as she became the first female artist on that label. Her music was then distributed by major companies like Warner Bros. and Universal. After signing, she started working on her first album for a major label.
Auburn's first official single, "La La La," featured the singer Iyaz. It was released on June 1, 2010. The song quickly became popular, reaching number 74 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in July 2010. It later peaked at number 51 on that chart.
In Fall 2010, Auburn joined Jason Derulo on his tour as the opening act. Her second single, "All About Him," came out on November 26, 2010. This song became a big hit in countries like the Philippines, Singapore, and Malaysia. A new version of the song, "All About Him (Pt. 2)," featured the rapper Tyga. It was released for digital download on February 15, 2011. "Perfect Two" was her third single, released on April 29, 2011. On January 12, 2013, Auburn released her fourth single, "My Baby."
