Audioslave was an American rock band formed in 2001. It was a "supergroup," meaning its members were already famous from other bands.
The band included Chris Cornell on vocals, who was previously with Soundgarden. The other members were Tom Morello on guitar, Tim Commerford on electric bass, and Brad Wilk on drums. These three musicians were all from the popular band Rage Against the Machine.
Audioslave released their first album, also called Audioslave, in 2002. Their next album, Out of Exile, came out in 2005.
On May 6, 2005, Audioslave made history. They became the first American rock group to perform a concert in Cuba. This special event needed permission from the US government because of laws about trade with Cuba.
