Augusta Victoria of Hohenzollern (born August 19, 1890 – died August 29, 1966) was a princess from Germany. She was the daughter of William, Prince of Hohenzollern, and Princess Maria Teresa of Bourbon-Two Sicilies. In 1913, she married Manuel II of Portugal, who used to be the King of Portugal. After his death, Augusta Victoria married a second time. She did not have any children from either of her marriages.
Early Life and Family
Augusta Victoria was born in Potsdam, a city in Germany. Her father was William, Prince of Hohenzollern. He was once expected to become the king of Romania. Her mother was Princess Maria Teresa of Bourbon-Two Sicilies. Princess Maria Teresa was a niece of the famous Empress Sissi.
First Marriage to King Manuel II

On September 4, 1913, Augusta Victoria married King Manuel II of Portugal. The wedding took place at Sigmaringen Castle. Manuel had become king after his father, Carlos I of Portugal, and older brother were killed in 1908. However, he was removed from power in 1910. This happened during the 5 October 1910 revolution, which created the Portuguese First Republic.
Augusta Victoria was 23 years old when she married Manuel. He was 24. They were second cousins, meaning they shared great-grandparents. These great-grandparents were Queen Maria II of Portugal and King Ferdinand II of Portugal. Manuel passed away on July 2, 1932, in England. They did not have any children together.
Second Marriage
Augusta Victoria married again on April 23, 1939. Her second husband was Count Robert Douglas von Langenstein. He was the head of a Swedish noble family called Douglas. He also owned Langenstein Castle in Germany.
Augusta Victoria was almost 49 years old when she married Count Douglas. He was 59. They were also related, being distant cousins. They both came from Charles Frederick, Grand Duke of Baden. Augusta Victoria did not have any children from this marriage either. Count Douglas died on August 26, 1955. Augusta Victoria passed away at the age of 76 in Germany, just 10 days after her birthday.
