Aurelio Rodríguez Vicente Carretero (1863–1917), known simply as Aurelio Carretero, was a talented Spanish sculptor. He created many important artworks that can still be seen in public places today.

Early Life and Education

Aurelio Carretero was born in 1863 in a town called Medina de Rioseco, which is in the province of Valladolid, Spain. He loved art from a young age.

He studied at two famous art schools in Spain. First, he attended the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de la Purísima Concepción [es] in Valladolid. Later, he continued his studies at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid. These academies helped him develop his skills as a sculptor.

Aurelio Carretero also spent some time living in South America. While there, he became well-known for his caricatures. Caricatures are drawings that exaggerate someone's features in a funny way.

Aurelio Carretero created many sculptures that are displayed in public spaces for everyone to enjoy. Here are some of his most famous works:
