Austin Jermaine Wiley (born January 8, 1999) is an American basketball player. He plays as a center for Hapoel Jerusalem in the Israeli Premier League. Before turning professional, he played college basketball for the Auburn Tigers.

Early Life and High School

Austin Wiley grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. He went to Spain Park High School in Hoover, Alabama. During his junior year (2015–2016), he was a star player. He averaged 27.1 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 2.9 blocks per game.

Later, Austin moved to Florida. There, he attended Calusa Preparatory School and played basketball at The Conrad Academy in Orlando, Florida. On November 9, 2016, he decided to play college basketball for Auburn. His parents had also played basketball at Auburn. In December 2016, Austin decided to finish high school early. This allowed him to start playing for Auburn sooner.

Austin was considered a top basketball player in his high school class. Experts rated him as a five-star recruit. He was the 27th best player overall and the 6th best center in the 2016 class.

College Basketball Journey

Starting at Auburn

Austin Wiley played his first game for the Auburn Tigers on December 18, 2016. He scored nine points, grabbed three rebounds, and blocked two shots. Auburn won that game 76–74 against Mercer. In his first year, he averaged 8.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game. He played about 18 minutes each game.

Facing Eligibility Challenges

Before the 2017–2018 season, Auburn announced that Austin and his teammate Danjel Purifoy could not play. This was due to concerns about rules and their eligibility. The NCAA later decided that Austin could play again for the 2018–2019 season. This meant he missed the rest of the 2017–2018 season.

After that, Austin was one of 69 players invited to the 2018 NBA Draft Combine. This event allows professional teams to scout college players. However, Austin chose to return to Auburn. He wanted to play for them for at least his junior year.

Junior and Senior Seasons

As a junior, Austin averaged 6.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game. He had some injuries during this time. He even needed surgery after the season ended. Despite this, he was part of the Auburn team that reached the Final Four for the first time ever.

In his senior year, Austin was recognized as a top player. Coaches named him to the preseason All-SEC team. He was also on the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Award watchlist. On February 12, 2020, Austin had an amazing game against Alabama. He scored 18 points, grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds, and blocked five shots. Auburn won in overtime. As a senior, Austin averaged 10.6 points and 9.3 rebounds per game. He was second in the conference for rebounding.

Professional Basketball Career

Austin Wiley started his professional career in 2021. On January 2, 2021, he signed with MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg in Germany. He played in one game for them.

Later that month, on January 20, 2021, Austin moved to another German team, Gladiators Trier. This team plays in Germany's second division. In six games during the 2020–2021 season, he averaged 14.7 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks.

On July 17, 2023, Austin signed with Tofaş. This team plays in the Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL) in Turkey.

As of July 3, 2024, Austin plays for Hapoel Jerusalem. This team is part of the Israeli Basketball Premier League.
