Aysel Teymurzadeh (born April 25, 1989) is a talented singer from Azerbaijan. She sings pop and R&B songs. Aysel became well-known when she represented her country, Azerbaijan, in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009. She performed the song "Always" with singer Arash and they finished in third place.

About Aysel's Early Life
Aysel was born in Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan. She was the youngest of three daughters. Her mother was a university professor and her father was a journalist. Aysel is also related to Hasan bey Zardabi, a famous Azerbaijani writer from the 1800s. Her grandmother had both Russian and Ukrainian roots.
Aysel started singing when she was only four years old. Playing the piano also became a big passion for her from a young age.
Aysel's Education and Training
Aysel went to the Intellect Lyceum in Baku. She also studied in the United States at Texas High School in Texarkana, Texas during 2005–2006. Soon after arriving in the U.S., she joined a local choir. She also began training for singing competitions for young vocalists.
While in the U.S., Aysel won three gold medals. These were at contests held at Southern Arkansas University and the University of Texas at Austin. In 2005, she took part in a national singing contest called Yeni Ulduz (which means "New Star"). Later, in 2009, Aysel was studying International Relations at the Azerbaijan University of Languages.
Aysel at Eurovision
In January 2009, Aysel was chosen by İTV (Azerbaijan's public TV channel) to represent her country in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009. This big music competition was held in Moscow, Russia. She performed with Iranian singer Arash. Their song was called "Always".
Aysel was the first female singer to represent Azerbaijan at Eurovision. On May 16, 2009, Aysel Teymurzadeh and Arash did very well. They finished third out of 25 performers in the grand final, earning 207 points.
After their success, Aysel and Arash won the 4th Annual ESC Radio Awards. They won in the category of "Best Group."
After Eurovision Success
After Eurovision, Aysel announced a European tour with Arash. They had concerts in countries like Sweden, Greece, and Russia. When she returned, she shared that she was working on an album with Arash and his team. This album was planned to be released by big music companies like Sony BMG and Warner Music.
Aysel also appeared in a well-known TV commercial for Danone yogurts. This commercial was shown on TV channels in Azerbaijan and Georgia.
In 2012, Aysel Teymurzadeh was part of a group of five musicians from Azerbaijan. They were chosen to be judges for the Danish national selection for the 2012 Eurovision contestant. She was also the spokesperson for the Azerbaijani jury at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.
Aysel's Personal Life
In 2012, Aysel Teymurzadeh got married to Murad Adigozalov. He is the director of the Azerbaijan State Philharmonic Society. After getting married, Aysel decided to focus more on her family. She planned to perform mostly at official events. Aysel and Murad have three children: two sons born in 2012 and 2016, and a daughter born in 2014.
