BabyTV (stylized as Babytv) is a special TV channel made for babies, toddlers, and their parents. It's owned by a part of The Walt Disney Company, a very large entertainment company. BabyTV started in 2003 and is now available in over 100 countries. It broadcasts in 18 different languages, making it easy for kids around the world to watch. A cool thing about BabyTV is that it doesn't show any TV commercials! In the United States, Walt Disney Television helps distribute the channel.

What You Can Watch on BabyTV

BabyTV creates its own shows and cartoons. These shows are made with help from experts in child development. This means the programs are designed to help babies and toddlers learn and grow. The shows cover nine main topics that help young children learn important skills.

Learning Topics

The nine main topics on BabyTV include:

  • First Concepts: Helps kids learn basic ideas like shapes and colors.
  • Nature & Animals: Teaches about different animals and the natural world.
  • Music & Art: Introduces children to sounds, songs, and creative activities.
  • Imagination & Creativity: Encourages kids to use their imagination.
  • Building Friendships: Shows how to get along with others.
  • Songs & Rhymes: Features fun songs and rhymes that children can learn.
  • Guessing Games: Simple games to help kids think and guess.
  • Activities: Ideas for fun things to do.
  • Bedtime: Calming shows to help children get ready for sleep.

Watching Shows Whenever You Want

BabyTV also offers a service called video on demand. This means you can choose to watch BabyTV shows whenever you like, instead of waiting for them to air. These on-demand shows are shorter parts of the regular programs. They are grouped by the nine learning topics. You can find them in many languages, like English, French, Spanish, and Mandarin. This service is available on some TV providers, like Singtel TV, and will be coming to more in the future.

BabyTV at Home

You can also find BabyTV content on DVDs. The "My First Years Library" is a collection of DVDs that help children learn early skills. These DVDs feature some of the popular characters from the channel, like Pitch & Potch.

How BabyTV Reaches You

A company called RR Media helps BabyTV send its programs out to different places. They use satellites to broadcast the channel in various languages around the world.
