Franklin's New School Year
This movie is all about Franklin Turtle and his friends starting a new year at school. They had a fun and relaxing summer. But when they get to school, they find out their teacher, Mr. Owl, is not there. He had to leave for a family matter.
A New Teacher Arrives
Their replacement teacher is Miss Koala from Australia. She arrives on a motorbike. At first, Franklin thinks she is a bit strange. She uses different phrases like "fair dinkum." She also wants to start a brand-new soccer team.
Soon, Franklin and everyone else in the class start to like her. They are won over by her positive "can-do" attitude. She helps them feel excited about school.
Harriet's Friendship Journey
Meanwhile, Franklin's younger sister, Harriet, is feeling sad. Her best friend, Beatrice (who is Franklin's best friend Bear's younger sister), has started preschool. This means they cannot play together much during the week.
Harriet feels better when she meets Beaver's younger brother, Kit. Kit is voiced by Amanda Soha. However, Kit is a bit shy at first. He might not be ready to play with Harriet right away.
Overcoming Changes and Fears
This special movie helps students cope with fears about change. Many students feel nervous when starting a new school year. They might worry about new teachers or new friends.
Watching Franklin and his class helps kids see how to deal with these feelings. They learn to accept that they will have a temporary teacher. This is something many students can understand.
Students starting a new school might worry about making new friends. They might also feel bored if their usual friends are not there. This is like Harriet's situation in the movie.
Harriet was upset because her friend was starting school. But she quickly felt better after meeting Kit. Even though their personalities did not match at first, they soon became friends.
Franklin also shows how caring he is in this movie. He gives his favorite blue blanket to his little sister. This helps her feel calm. Later, Harriet copies her brother's actions. She gives the blanket to her new friend Kit when he is having trouble.
