Back to the Future is a super popular series of three movies with real actors. These exciting films are all about time travel! They follow a teenager who goes on incredible adventures through different times in a special car. This car was built by his scientist friend and can actually travel through time!
The three movies in the series are:
- Back to the Future (Part I) - Released in 1985
- Back to the Future Part II - Released in 1989
- Back to the Future Part III - Released in 1990
The main character lives in 1985. But he travels to the past and even the future! Most of his adventures happen in a town called Hill Valley.
Meet the Main Characters
The movies feature a fantastic group of characters. Here are some of the most important ones and the actors who played them:
- Marty McFly / Seamus McFly - Played by Michael J. Fox. Marty is the brave teenager who travels through time.
- Dr. Emmett L. Brown - Played by Christopher Lloyd. He's the brilliant but quirky scientist who invents the time machine.
- Biff Tannen / Griff Tannen / Buford "Mad Dog" Tannen - Played by Thomas F. Wilson. These are the main bullies and bad guys in different time periods.
- George Douglas McFly - Played by Crispin Glover and Jeffrey Weissman. He is Marty's dad.
- Lorraine Baines-McFly / Maggie McFly - Played by Lea Thompson. She is Marty's mom.
- Strickland - Played by James Tolkan. He is the strict principal at Marty's school.
- Jennifer Parker - Played by Claudia Wells and Elisabeth Shue. She is Marty's girlfriend.
- Clara Clayton - Played by Mary Steenburgen. She is a schoolteacher who Dr. Brown meets in the Old West.

- The movies were directed by Robert Zemeckis. A director is like the captain of the movie set. They decide how everything looks and sounds.
