Bacon Island is an island located in a special watery area called the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta. This delta is in Northern California, a state in the United States.
You can find Bacon Island about twenty kilometers (that's about 12 miles) east of a city called Antioch. It's also about twenty kilometers west of another city, Stockton.
About Bacon Island
Bacon Island is quite large! It covers about 2,200 hectares. To give you an idea, one hectare is roughly the size of a sports field. So, imagine 2,200 sports fields put together!
Where is Bacon Island?
This island is surrounded by different waterways. On its western side, you'll find the Old River. To the north, there's a channel called Connection Slough. The eastern side of the island is bordered by Middle River. Finally, to the south, it's next to the Woodward Island Canal.
Who Manages Bacon Island?
Bacon Island is part of San Joaquin County. It is looked after by a group called Reclamation District 2028. These districts help manage land, especially in areas like deltas, to make sure they are safe and useful.
