How Bagot Well Got Its Name

Bagot Well was named after Captain C. H. Bagot. He owned a lot of land in this area. The place started as a well that Captain Bagot dug. It became open for everyone to use in 1855.

A Change in Name

The name of the place was changed on December 5, 1940. It went from "Bagot's Well" to "Bagot Well." Later, on March 16, 2000, official borders were set for the area. This made Bagot Well a recognized locality.

The Railway Connection

Bagot Well used to have a railway line. It was part of the Morgan railway line. This line was extended from Kapunda in 1878. It helped connect Bagot Well to other places.

The railway line was closed in 1994. Passenger trains had stopped running much earlier. Freight trains carrying grain also did not stop there.
