A Look Back in Time
Bajura Adentro has a fascinating history. For a long time, it was part of Spain's territories. However, after the Spanish–American War in 1898, Puerto Rico became a territory of the United States. This change happened because of an agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898.
In 1899, the United States government conducted a special count of all the people in Puerto Rico, which is called a census. This census showed that 881 people lived in the Bajura Adentro barrio at that time. Over the years, the population has grown, as you can see in the table above.
