Bali Mumba's Football Journey
Starting at Sunderland
Bali Mumba started his football journey at Sunderland. He made his first big game appearance in 2018. This was against Wolverhampton Wanderers. He came on as a substitute for the team captain. The captain even gave him his armband! This made Bali the youngest captain in the club's history for those few minutes.
In November 2018, Bali signed his first professional contract. This meant he was officially a paid player for Sunderland. Later, in March 2020, he joined South Shields on a short loan. He even scored a goal in his second game there!
Moving to Norwich City
In July 2020, Bali Mumba joined Norwich City. He signed a four-year deal with them. On August 21, 2021, he played his first game in the Premier League. This is one of the top football leagues in England.
Loan to Peterborough United
On January 6, 2022, Bali went on loan to EFL Championship team Peterborough United. He joined them for the rest of the 2021–22 season. In his very first game, he scored the winning goal! This helped his team win 2–1 against Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup.
Loan to Plymouth Argyle
On July 14, 2022, Bali joined EFL League One club Plymouth Argyle on loan. This was for the 2022–23 season. He had a fantastic start at Plymouth. The team was at the top of the league. Bali even won the EFL Young Player of the Month award for September 2022.
Bali played 47 games for Argyle and scored eight goals. His team went on to win the League One title! They also finished as runners-up in the EFL Trophy. Bali played in the final match at Wembley Stadium. He often played as a wing-back, helping both defense and attack.
At the end of the season, Bali won many awards. The fans chose him as their Young Player of the Season. His teammates also voted him as their Player of the Season. He was also honored at the EFL Awards. There, he was named the division's Young Player of the Season.
Joining Plymouth Argyle Permanently
On July 21, 2023, Bali Mumba officially signed with Plymouth Argyle. He signed a four-year contract. The transfer fee was reported to be around £1 million. This was a record-equalling fee for Plymouth.
On August 5, 2023, Bali scored in his second debut for the club. This was in a 3–1 win against Huddersfield Town. He was playing as a left-winger in this game.
Playing for England
Bali Mumba has also played for England's national youth teams. He has represented his country at different age levels. These include the under-16, under-17, under-18, and under-19 teams. His parents are from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
