Music Dispute: Khosara Khosara

In 2000, the American rapper Jay-Z released a hit song called "Big Pimpin'." Baligh Hamdi's family claimed that Jay-Z used the melody from Baligh Hamdi's song "Khosara Khosara" without permission.

In 2015, a judge in California decided that this issue should go to trial. However, later that year, on October 21, 2015, the judge dismissed the case. The judge ruled that Baligh Hamdi's family did not have the right to make a copyright claim in this specific situation. So, the lawsuit against Jay-Z and his producer Timbaland was ended before a jury could decide.
