Balisto is a yummy snack bar made by a company called Mars, Incorporated. It has a crunchy digestive biscuit in the middle. On top of the biscuit, there's a creamy filling. The whole bar is covered in tasty milk chocolate.
Usually, you get two Balisto bars in one package. But if you buy a multipack, you'll find ten smaller bars, each wrapped separately.
You can find Balisto bars in many countries. These include Ireland, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Slovenia, Hungary, Italy, and Denmark. In 2011, Balisto also became available in the United Kingdom.
The Story of Balisto
Balisto bars first came out in 1981. They were made by Mars, Incorporated in West Germany. The name "Balisto" might come from the German word "Ballaststoffe." This word means "dietary fiber," which is a healthy part of food.
In 2021, Balisto bars in Germany started using new packaging. This new wrapper is made from 90% paper. This helps the environment by using less plastic.
Different Kinds of Balisto
Balisto comes in many exciting flavors! Each flavor has its own special wrapper color. Not all flavors are sold everywhere, but here are some popular ones:
- Corn/Cereal-mix (orange wrapper): This one has a plain biscuit covered in chocolate.
- Muesli-mix (green wrapper): It has a milky cream with tasty raisins and hazelnuts.
- Grain-mix (red wrapper)
- Yoghurt and berries-mix (purple wrapper): This flavor has a creamy yogurt topping with yummy red berries.
- Almond and honey-mix (yellow wrapper)

- Spekulatius-Christmas cookie (dark red wrapper): This is a special flavor like a Christmas cookie.
- Strawberry yoghurt-mix (red wrapper): You can find this one in Germany.
- Yoghurt with white chocolate (white and pink wrapper): This was a special, limited-time flavor.
- Yoghurt with strawberry and white chocolate (white and red wrapper): This flavor is also available in Germany.
