A Look Back at Bancroft's History
Bancroft started as a planned community in 1877. This happened when the railroad lines were built to reach that area. The village got its name from the Bancroft Mining Company. A post office opened in Bancroft in 1877, the same year the town was planned. Six years later, in 1883, Bancroft officially became an incorporated village.
