Barlow is a small city located in Clackamas County, Oregon, in the United States. In 2020, about 133 people lived there. The city's mayor is Michael Lundsten.
History of Barlow
Barlow gets its name from William Barlow. He was the son of Samuel K. Barlow, who was famous for creating the Barlow Road. Samuel bought the land where Barlow is now located in 1850. Later, he sold this land to his son, William.
In 1870, a railroad line was built right through Barlow. The train station there was first called "Barlows," named after William. Even today, the main Union Pacific Railroad line still runs through the city.
Barlow also had its own post office. It opened on February 7, 1871, and served the community for many years before closing on January 3, 1975.
Geography
Barlow is a very small city. According to the United States Census Bureau, its total area is only about 0.05 square miles (0.14 square kilometers). All of this area is land, meaning there are no lakes or rivers within the city limits.
