Barrón is a small village in the Basque Country, Spain. It is also a concejo, which is a type of local council area. Barrón is located in the western part of the Álava province.
The village is about 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) west of Vitoria, a major city. It is also 24 kilometers (15 miles) north of Miranda de Ebro. Barrón sits along the highway that connects Pobes with Valdegovía. It is a very small community, with only about 12 people living there. Before 1927, Barrón was part of a larger group of villages called a hermandad (like a brotherhood or association) and the municipality of Lacozmonte.

Barrón is found on the side of a mountain in the Arcamo range. It is about 674 meters (2,211 feet) above sea level. The area around Barrón is covered with forests of carrasca (a type of oak) and pine trees. You can also see fields where grains and potatoes are grown.
What is Barrón's History?
Barrón has some interesting old buildings. One is the house-tower of the Barrón y Mendoza family. This building was made in the 14th century and shows Gothic style.
Another unique structure is the Barrón Lobera. This was a special trap with walls that came together. It was used long ago to hunt wolves.
Famous People from Barrón
Juan de Lezcano was born in Barrón (1866–1899). He was a student of the Arabic language and belonged to the Augustinian religious order. Many people consider him one of the first Spanish orientalists. Orientalists are scholars who study the languages, cultures, and history of the Middle East and Asia.
