Bart K. Palaszewski, also known as "Bartimus," is a retired Polish-American professional mixed martial artist. He was born on May 30, 1983. Bart competed in the UFC's Featherweight division. He was an active fighter from 2002 until 2014. Before joining the UFC, he also fought in other big organizations. These included the WEC, the IFL, and King of the Cage.

Bart's Early Life and Training

Bart Palaszewski was born in Warsaw, Poland. He lived there until he was 13 years old. Then, his family moved to Wonder Lake, Illinois, in the United States.

How Bart Started Fighting

In Poland, Bart began learning judo when he was in third grade. His older cousin, who did kickboxing, also helped him practice. After his judo coach became an Olympian, Bart wasn't happy with the new coach. He then spent six months training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Muay Thai. This led him to discover mixed martial arts.

Bart's First Steps in MMA

Bart trained while also working as a photographer and graphic designer. He had other computer-related jobs too. He became very interested in MMA after seeing his first live event in McHenry, Illinois. Even though his official record shows he lost his first four professional fights, Bart says he had other wins that weren't recorded. After those initial losses, he bounced back with eight wins in a row!

Bart's Mixed Martial Arts Career

Bart Palaszewski had an exciting career in mixed martial arts. He fought in some of the biggest organizations.

Fighting in World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC)

Bart joined the WEC and had his first fight against Alex Karalexis at WEC 37. He won this fight in the second round by TKO. This win earned him the "Knockout of the Night" award.

After this win, Bart faced some tough challenges. He lost two fights in a row. He lost to Ricardo Lamas at WEC 39 and then to Anthony Njokuani at WEC 40. The loss to Njokuani was the only time he lost by TKO or KO in his whole career.

Bart then had a big win against Anthony Pettis at WEC 45 in December 2009. He won by a split decision, giving Pettis his first professional loss. He continued his winning streak by defeating Karen Darabedyan at WEC 47 with a submission in the first round.

In August 2010, Bart fought Zach Micklewright at WEC 50. He won that fight by TKO in the second round. His last WEC fight was against Kamal Shalorus at WEC 53. Bart lost this fight by a split decision.

Moving to the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)

In October 2010, the WEC joined forces with the UFC. This meant that most WEC fighters, including Bart, moved over to the UFC.

Bart was supposed to fight Cody McKenzie at UFC 130 in May 2011. However, McKenzie got injured and was replaced by Gleison Tibau. Then, Bart himself got injured and couldn't fight Tibau.

Bart finally made his UFC debut against Tyson Griffin at UFC 137 in October 2011. He won this fight with a first-round knockout! He knocked Griffin down with a left hook and finished the fight with more punches. This amazing win also earned him the "Knockout of the Night" award.

After this big win, Bart faced Hatsu Hioki at UFC 144 in February 2012. He lost this fight by a unanimous decision. He then fought Diego Nunes in October 2012 at UFC on FX 5. Bart lost this fight by unanimous decision, but it was such an exciting match that it earned him the "Fight of the Night" bonus!

Bart's last fight was against Cole Miller at The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale in April 2013. He lost this fight by submission in the first round. After this, he was released from the UFC.

In February 2014, Bart Palaszewski announced that he was retiring from mixed martial arts.
