Bartow is a small town in Jefferson County, Georgia, United States. In 2020, about 186 people lived there.
The town was first called "Spier's Turnout." But its name was changed to honor Colonel Francis S. Bartow. He was a Confederate officer from Savannah, Georgia. Colonel Bartow was the first Confederate officer to die in battle. He was killed on July 21, 1861, at the Battle of Manassas in Virginia.
