Bear Valley is a small community in Alpine County, California. It is best known as the home of the Bear Valley ski area. In 2020, about 128 people lived here.

Where is Bear Valley Located?

Bear Valley is found within the Stanislaus National Forest. You can reach it by driving on State Route 4. The area covers about 5.2 square miles (13.4 square kilometers). Most of this area is land, with a very small part being water. Even though it's in Alpine County, the Bear Valley Fire Department works with the California Department of Forestry for help with emergencies.
