Beatrice Ann "Beezus" Quimby is a famous character from the Henry Huggins and Ramona series of books. These popular books were written by Beverly Cleary. Beezus is a good friend to Henry and Mary Jane. She is also the older sister of Ramona and Roberta.
Ramona gave Beezus her nickname because she couldn't say "Beatrice" when she was little. Beezus's real name comes from her Aunt Beatrice, who is her mother's sister. Beezus really looks up to her Aunt Beatrice.
In the "Henry Huggins" books, Beezus is shown as a smart girl who lives next door to Henry. She is a close friend of Henry's. Her younger sister, Ramona, often bothers her with silly actions. The book Beezus and Ramona is the only one told from Beezus's point of view. It shares the ups and downs of being sisters and how Ramona's actions can sometimes annoy Beezus.
Later, in the books that focus on Ramona's life, Beezus is still very smart and loves to study. She acts like a typical older sister, sometimes teasing Ramona. In Ramona and her Father, Beezus feels a bit sad because her dad loses his job. But she feels better when she gets to play Mary in the school's Nativity play. Beezus is usually kind. However, she sometimes teases Ramona with older sister advice. For example, Ramona has to wear Beezus's old clothes. They even wonder if some dreams can be passed down in families!

Beezus Quimby has appeared in movies and TV shows. In the 2010 movie Ramona and Beezus, the teen star Selena Gomez plays Beezus. Joey King plays her younger sister, Ramona Quimby. This movie is live-action and came out on July 23, 2010. It tells stories from different Ramona books.
Before that, in the 1988 Ramona TV show, Lori Chodos played Beezus. This TV show was also based on Beverly Cleary's books.
