Joey Lynn King (born July 30, 1999) is an American actress who has starred in many popular movies and TV shows. She is well-known for playing Ramona Quimby in the movie Ramona and Beezus (2010). She became even more famous for her leading role in The Kissing Booth film series from 2018 to 2021.
Joey received high praise from critics for her role as Gypsy-Rose Blanchard in the TV series The Act (2019). Her performance was so good that she was nominated for major awards, including a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award.
You might also recognize her from movies like Crazy, Stupid, Love (2011), The Dark Knight Rises (2012), The Conjuring (2013), and White House Down (2013). More recently, she starred in the action movie Bullet Train (2022) and the animated film Despicable Me 4 (2024).

Early Life and Starting Out
Joey King was born in Los Angeles, California, on July 30, 1999. She grew up with two older sisters, and one of them, Hunter King, is also an actress.
Joey started her acting career when she was only four years old. Her first job was in a commercial for Life Cereal. She also appeared in ads for other big companies like AT&T and Eggo. As a child, she loved performing and was part of a children's theater group.
Acting Career
From Child Star to Teen Icon
Joey's first movie was Reign Over Me in 2007. Soon after, she voiced the character Katie in the animated movie Horton Hears a Who! (2008). She also appeared in many TV shows, including The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
In 2010, she landed her first lead role as the fun-loving Ramona Quimby in Ramona and Beezus. This role was based on the popular children's books by Beverly Cleary. Her performance won her a Young Artist Award. The next year, she appeared in the music video for Taylor Swift's song "Mean".
Over the next few years, Joey acted in several major films. She played a young Talia al Ghul in the Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises (2012). She also had roles in the fantasy film Oz the Great and Powerful (2013) and the scary movie The Conjuring (2013). In 2014, she joined the cast of the TV series Fargo as Greta Grimly.
Stardom with 'The Kissing Booth' and 'The Act'
In 2018, Joey became a huge star with the Netflix romantic comedy The Kissing Booth. She played the main character, Elle Evans. The movie was so popular that it led to two sequels, The Kissing Booth 2 (2020) and The Kissing Booth 3 (2021).
A year later, in 2019, Joey took on a very different and challenging role in the true-crime TV series The Act. She played Gypsy-Rose Blanchard, a real person whose life story was very complicated. To look like the character, Joey had to shave her head. Her acting in the show was incredible and earned her nominations for some of the biggest awards in television.
In 2023, she appeared in another Taylor Swift music video, this time for the song "I Can See You."
Personal Life
In 2019, Joey King started dating director Steven Piet, whom she met while filming The Act. The couple got engaged in February 2022 and were married on September 2, 2023, in Mallorca, Spain.
Joey also uses her fame to help others. She signed an open letter to the U.S. President, asking for help to free hostages who were taken during the October 7 attacks.
