Dominic Richard Harrison (born 5 August 1997), known as Yungblud, is an English singer, songwriter, and actor. He started his music journey in 2017.

Yungblud released his first EP, Yungblud, in 2018. This was followed by his first full album, 21st Century Liability. His second EP, The Underrated Youth, came out in 2019.

In 2020, his second studio album, Weird!, became number one in the UK Albums Chart. It also reached number 75 on the US Billboard 200 chart. His third album, also called Yungblud, was released in 2022. It topped the UK Album Charts again. This album also reached number 45 on the Billboard 200 and number 7 on the US Top Rock Albums chart.

Early Life and School

Dominic Richard Harrison was born on 5 August 1997. His parents are Samantha and Justin Harrison. He grew up in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. He has two younger sisters named Jemima and Isobel.

From a young age, Dominic was diagnosed with ADHD. This sometimes made school a bit challenging for him. He once got suspended from Ackworth School after a playful dare from a friend. Dominic has said he was a child with strong opinions. He felt his energetic personality was often misunderstood by others.

He later studied at Arts Educational Schools, London. This school helps young people learn about arts and performance.

Music Career

Before becoming a musician, Dominic was an actor. He appeared in TV shows like Emmerdale and The Lodge.

First Songs and EP (2017–2018)

Yungblud released his very first song, "King Charles", on 7 April 2017. Later that year, on 15 September, he released "I Love You, Will You Marry Me". This song tells a modern love story with a bit of a dark twist.

On 10 November 2017, he released "Tin Pan Boy". This song is about a building project on Denmark Street in London. This street is famous for its music history, often called "Tin Pan Alley". On 19 January 2018, he released his first EP, Yungblud. This EP included the three songs he had released earlier.

First Albums and Collaborations (2018–2019)

From March 12 to 30, 2018, Yungblud supported K.Flay on her "Everywhere Is Somewhere" tour. He also released the music video for his song "Polygraph Eyes" on YouTube on March 14, 2018.

His first full album, 21st Century Liability, came out on 6 July 2018. In July, he went on the Vans Warped Tour in the United States. On 10 August, he released an EP called Yungblud (Unplugged). This EP had acoustic versions of seven songs from his first album. In August 2018, a music video for "Falling Skies" was released. This song featured Charlotte Lawrence and was part of the soundtrack for Netflix's show 13 Reasons Why. From September 2018 to April 2019, he toured to support his debut album.

On 17 January 2019, he released the song "Loner". Then, on 14 February 2019, he released "11 Minutes". This song was a collaboration with Halsey and Travis Barker. The song is about a relationship that struggles because of self-doubt. He also released his first live album, Yungblud (Live in Atlanta), on 22 March 2019.

From May to August 2019, he went on the "Don't Wanna Be a Loner" tour. This included performances at several music festivals. "Parents" was the first song from The Underrated Youth EP. It came out on 24 May 2019. Yungblud described it as a song about being yourself and unique. He also worked with Machine Gun Kelly and Travis Barker on the song "I Think I'm Okay", released on 7 June 2019.

On 26 July 2019, Yungblud's cover of "Time in a Bottle" by Jim Croce was featured in the movie Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw. On 29 July 2019, his song "Hope For the Underrated Youth" was first played on BBC Radio 1.

"Original Me", featuring Dan Reynolds from Imagine Dragons, was released in October 2019. They performed the song live on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Yungblud's The Underrated Youth EP was released on 18 October 2019.

Yungblud also announced a comic book called "Twisted Tales of the Ritalin Club". It was released in October 2019. He went to MCM London Comic Con to promote his book.

On 31 October 2019, the music video for "Die a Little" was released. This song was also from the 13 Reasons Why soundtrack. The video aimed to raise awareness about mental health.

Yungblud collaborated with Blackbear and Marshmello on a song called "Tongue Tied". It was released on 13 November, with a music video starring Joey King.

Weird! Album (2019–2021)

Yungblud was nominated for four NME awards in 2020. He won "Best Music Video" for "Original Me". On 4 March 2020, he had to cancel his Asia tour because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Many music events, like Coachella, were also postponed. To connect with fans, he created "The Yungblud Show". This online event gave fans a concert experience from home.

On 22 April 2020, he released the song "Weird!". On 16 July, "Strawberry Lipstick" came out. His album Weird! was originally set for release in November 2020 but was moved to 4 December 2020.

On 9 January 2021, Yungblud took part in an online event called "A Bowie Celebration: Just for One Day". He performed a cover of David Bowie's "Life on Mars?". On 18 February 2021, this live cover was chosen as a soundtrack for NASA's Perseverance rover landing on Mars.

Self-Titled Album and New Music (2021–Present)

On 19 August 2021, he released his song "Fleabag". It reached number 78 in the UK charts. In November 2021, it was announced that Yungblud would release a short film. The film is based on his 2020 song "Mars". It tells the story of a fan named Charlie Acaster, who is transgender and trying to get her parents to understand.

On 11 March 2022, Yungblud released "The Funeral". The music video for this song featured Sharon Osbourne and Ozzy Osbourne. "Memories", featuring American singer Willow, was his second song released on 6 May 2022. The music video for "Memories" also featured YouTuber and Twitch streamer Valkyrae.

Yungblud showed the cover art and release date for his third album on 17 May during a livestream. "Don't Feel Like Feeling Sad Today" was the third song released on 29 June 2022. "Tissues" was the fourth song, released on 30 August 2022. This song uses a sample from "Close to Me" by the Cure. His third studio album, Yungblud, was released on 2 September 2022.

Yungblud performed at Coachella 2023, a big music festival.

In May 2023, Yungblud started hinting at new music. He sent letters to fans in Los Angeles, London, and Germany. These letters led fans to cars spray-painted with "Lowlife". Fans could hear a snippet of the new song, "Lowlife," which was officially released on 7 June 2023.

On 29 March 2024, Yungblud released "Abyss". This song is used as the opening theme for the Kaiju No. 8 anime series.

Standing Up for What's Right

Yungblud is known for speaking out on important issues. On 24 March 2018, he attended the March for Our Lives rally. This was a student-led protest against gun violence. He even live-streamed the event to his fans.

On 30 May 2020, he joined the George Floyd protests in California. These protests were part of the Black Lives Matter movement. He and Halsey helped give first aid to some of the people protesting.

On 24 September 2022, during his performance at the Firefly Music Festival in Dover, Delaware, Yungblud spoke about the death of Mahsa Amini. He showed his support for the protests and unrest happening in Iran at the time.

What Inspires Yungblud?

Yungblud gets his musical ideas from many different artists. He is inspired by rock, pop, and hip hop musicians. Some of his influences include Arctic Monkeys and Alex Turner, the Beatles, the Cure and Robert Smith, Nirvana, Avril Lavigne, the Clash, Soundgarden, My Chemical Romance, Marilyn Manson, Lady Gaga, Lorde, Post Malone, Kanye West, Eminem, and Katy Perry.
